Illustration Friday, Repair

So, due to personal reasons, when I heard the prompt for Illustration Friday this week I immediately though repair a relationship, repair a broken heart. Here is my ideas for repair. The first one I did was the one above, the couple. He's supposed to be holding a hammer. It doesn't look like a hammer. Also, his arm looks odd. And I would like to go back and add her hand on his shoulder. The second one I created is the one below, the wooden heart. It looked good, but unfinished. After some thought, I added the clock and the plant. "Only time can repair a broken heart, so love can bloom again." I'm not sure which one is my favorite. Hmmm.

"Oh, the weather outside is frightful..."

And not in the Halloween way either. We got a snowstorm dumped on us last night, causing the neighborhood to be without power. No power = no lights or Internet = no art or updating my blog. So I've got to play catch-up today. For now, I leave you with this. An ATC dealing with every one's favorite thing to throw, good ol' snow. It's titled, "The Fall."

Yum... dinner..

Last night I got very creative with dinner. We had cupcakes. Gasp! What kind of horrible mother am I? To give my children cupcakes for dinner! The horror! Well, these cupcakes are not what they seem. The cupcake its self was meatloaf, the "frosting" was mashed potatoes, and the "cherry" was a cherry tomato. I did not come up with this idea on my own!!! I am not trying to steal any one's glory. Yes, I saw it in a magazine once. But this is my attempt at a creative, cute dinner. Not too bad, huh? Next time I will use peas and corn and carrots as "sprinkles." (That IS my own idea.) These were very simple to make. What I did was take my favorite meat loaf recipe, put it in cupcake holders, and cook for about half the time the recipe calls for. Make sure you use the silver liners, because the grease soaks into the simple paper ones. With creativity like this, how can I have the stamina to draw? :::Yawn::: with a full tummy, I am off to bed.

Internet, the greatest time sucker in the world....

So, I have about a million and a half things to do before 1:15 this afternoon. At 1:15 I'm taking my two boys to Plattsburgh to meet up with daddy/husband. We will then proceed on the pumpkin patch to enjoy a little Halloween fun. Of course, I am super excited but I have So... Much... Stuff... To... Do!!!!! Ahhhh!!!!!! I have to correct art work and plan for the week, and I have laundry and the living room is a wreck, and I wanted to start on dinner before we left to save some time tonight. But what do I do instead? I get on the Internet. Of course I do! But my time wasting worked out in my favor today. I found an ATC trading group that is active. So, of course, I am super excited and don't do a lick of what I'm supposed to for my students or my house. I still have an open invitation to anyone who wanders into this site, I would LOVE to trade ATCs. But, with this new site, I have a new feeling I'm going to be trading soon. With that said, I'm getting off this wonderful Internet and going to work on rubrics, homework, and Art Club poster making. I'm starting an art club with my students, but that is a subject for another time wasting blog.

Monday Artday, Zombies!

Or in my case... Zombie!!! Ahhh!

What does a hungry hardworking zombie do after working the graveyard shift? (Would that be the day shift for the rest of us???) He gets take-out, of course! Here is my sketch of a zombie, complete with his "Brains to Go" baggie. See the grease at the bottom of the bag? This picture reminds me of my husband, carrying in take-out I've requested after he's worked a 12 hour day. This is for you, Aaron. :o)

The Moost Happi

If you can tell me what my heading is quoting, I will send you an original painting!

Yes, I know, I know, it has been an extremely long time since I last up-dated my art blog. It's been busy, and I am still new at this. I started during the summer, when I was on summer vacation. So I had lots of time to work on my art, my blogs, etc. Now, I'm back to the grind, and my own personal art is taking a backseat to teaching others to make art. I'm ready to start creating again.

Emotionally, my life is right on track to start creating. I am happy in my job and personal life. I'm not what you would call a "sad artist." I only can work when I feel good. And, at the moment, I feel great!

OK, so I promise I will post some new art tonight after the children are in bed and the husband is at work. I'll make it good, to make up for the lost time. :o)
